4.3.5 Share of Persons Age 18+ Receiving Influenza Vaccinations
Why is this important?
Receiving an influenza vaccination not only helps prevent an individual from acquiring the flu, but it also reduces its complications, such as bacterial pneumonia, ear infections, sinus infections, or dehydration. Avoiding the flu also helps ensure that chronic conditions, such as congestive heart failure, asthma, and diabetes, do not get worse. Those most vulnerable to these complications and those with the highest frequency of these conditions are senior citizens.
This indicator measures the share of adult residents of Walla Walla ages 18 or older who received an influenza vaccination. Washington State and the U.S. are offered as benchmarks.
