Are you in the market for a new vehicle? According to the Alliance for Automotive Innovation's Electric Vehicle First Quarter 2026 Report, Washington State remains a leader in electric vehicles as a share of market sales. While growth has slowed, Washington state's growth remains second highest in the country, behind only California.
This trend is evident in the data visualization provided by data.wa.gov, the Washington State Open Data Portal. It displays the number of currently registered Battery Electric Vehicles (BEV) and Plug-In Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEVs) throughout the state. Their generalized location is provided by the Washington State Department of Licensing. Visitors to the site can narrow down their area of interest by county, city, postal code, or even legislative district. The tool can be found here.
Filtering the data to show just Walla Walla County, we can see that there are roughly 860 EV’s in the area. Unsurprisingly, the majority come from the city of Walla Walla, with approximately 670 vehicles. The bulk of the remaining is College Place with 120 vehicles, and the minority remaining are from the towns of Burbank and Waitsburg.
